easter and logandale

the saturday before easter we had our annual easter egg hunt in wallsburg. it was so fun to have a little one to participate in the hunt this year! it was snowing and freezing but we still had a bbq, shot guns and looked for eggs. easter sunday we dressed up Q in her new dress for church and gave her her easter basket. brady and i dont really do much for each other on holidays like this so i had a lot of fun putting a basket together for Q. later that night we had another bbq at drapers house. we have great family and we love getting together!on the 7th of may Makenzie got baptized so we all headed down to logandale nevada for the weekend. we got to watch Makenzie, Tyson and Sierra do their may day dances at their school. the weather was so nice and it was really fun to see them dance in person instead of on the video camera. they did great! sorry i didnt get a picture of Makenzie or Tysons outfits! after Makenzies baptism we all went swimming. it was alot of fun and we had another great weekend with the draper family. congrats on the decision to get baptized Makenzie, we are proud of you!

month 8

quincy-

you have become very independant. its fun to see you being so grown up but its kindof been a challenge. the biggest change is that you have refused to eat baby food. if it is pureed or on a spoon you want nothing to do with it. you clench your lips shut and turn your head in every direction to avoid the spoon. its kindof funny but really frustrating because you refuse to eat and i worry that you are hungry. after a little while i finally figured out that you will eat anything i give if i cut it up in little pieces and put it on your tray and let you feed yourself. you love to eat and dont seem to be too picky. you will eat and eat as long as i put food in front of you and until i take you out of your chair. if you want something that brady and i are eating you smack and lick your lips until we give you some. its really cute. you still dont crawl which is nice because we havent had to baby proof the house yet. you can roll and scoot around the room but you dont get far. you are pretty content to sit on the floor and play with anything that i set in front of you. you are still mellow and easy going but you also know what you want and when you want it and sqeal or giggle to let us know.
you are very much becoming a mommys girl and are starting to get shy in front of other people. you turn your head into my shoulder and smile when someone comes up and says hi to you. i kind of like that you cling to me because it makes me feel loved! but hopefully it doesnt last because i dont want you to be shy. you are still a doll and such an easy baby. you have molded into our life so easily and we still feel so lucky to have you. our lives would be empty without you. love you lots.

good things

i know all my posting have been for Q lately, and although she is pretty much our life now, there are a few other things going on.

last month brady got a jeep. he has been wanting a jeep for a long long long long time. he found this blue beauty on ksl and got a great deal and he LOVES it! he has a list of things he wants to add to it and im beginning to realize why people say jeeps are money pits. but we are really enjoying it and its alot of fun for cuisin down the canyon. its been too muddy to take up on any trails yet, but we are excited for this summer.
a few weeks ago we went to st george again. it was just brady, Q and i and we had a lot of fun relaxing. it was 82 degrees when we were there and we were dying! we arent used to that yet so we actually spent most of our time inside watching movies and relaxing. we did go to the park for a little bit to swing with Q and we also went swimming and on a little hike. we only went for about an hour because Q was starting to get sunburned on her arms. we stopped and got her a hat but didnt think about her arms. we still forget about those kinds of things. kids need so much stuff! we always have so much fun when we go down there. thank you thank you thank you duff and amy for your generosity in letting us use your house!in march i ran (aka walked) my first 5k! it was sooooo windy and cold that day. it was hard, im not going to lie. i havent exercised much since i had Q and i am really really out of shape. it took me a long time. im not going to say how long, but there were 10k runners passing me at the finish line. now i have a time to beat and i cant wait to get in shape and do another one. i know a lot of runners and i hear about their races and it sounds so rewarding. i doubt ill ever be as gung ho as they are but it feels good be in shape and its something i can do with Q.not much has changed around the house for us. we are just still working and playing. brady is still doing landscaping and is loving being on the fire department as well. he has done a few shifts at the jordanelle station and would love to go full time someday. i feel like we have adjusted to being parents and we are loving having a little person in the house. we have a lot of fun with her. the other night brady was looking at something on his phone and i figured he was looking at jeep stuff or houses or something and he was looking at a pink powerwheels jeep! haha it was so funny! he is already excited to buy stuff like that for Q.

month 7

quincy-

today you are actually 8 months old, but i am a little behind. so heres month 7 and month 8 will follow shortly.
in contrast to last month this one has been one of the best! we have successfully gone an entire month without an ear infection! you have been so happy and healthy this month and it has been wonderful. you have also developed quite the personality. you are very strong willed and know what you want. you are starting to express how you feel and have been laughing alot. you are also doing things that you think are funny and laughing at yourself. it is so cute! lately when i lay you down to change you or dress you, you have been kicking me, just one swift kick, then laughing at yourself like you are so hilarious. i grab your leg and tell you to stop and it continues till we are both laughing. somehow you remember this game and do it almost everytime i lay you down. its pretty funny. you are also getting to where if i take something out of your hands that you want you throw a little fit and squeal. you dont like it when you are left in the room alone and prefer to keep me in your sights. you are pretty good about playing by youself when i set you on the floor surrounded with toys. you especially love your little stacking cups. you are now eating baby food like a pro. you have tried a lot of different fruits and veggies and your favorites are peaches, pears, yams and sweet potatos. you like the sweet stuff best. you eat most foods ok but you really really don’t like carrots or zuccini. we will work on that. your hair is growing like crazy, but mostly just a chunk down the middle in the front. if you were a boy you would have a killer mohawk, but since your a girl it just looks funny and awkward all the time.
you are still a wonderful sleeper and consitantly going to bed between 9 and 9:30. lately you have not been wanting to be rocked but just put in your crib to play for a few minutes before you fall asleep. you are getting so active and it kindof makes me sad that you dont want to cuddled as much but it is fun to watch you grow. you always wake up pleasant with a big smile on your face. and when you are ready to get up you talk louder and louder until we come get you. you talk so much! i can really see the risenmay gene in you already!
Q, you are still such a joy to brady and i. you make us laugh continually and we still adore every little thing about you. you are my best friend and we go everywhere together. everything is more fun with you around. you are the best!

love you lots.

my marathon: 18 hrs 15 min

warm up started at 4:45 am with a cry from the little one. we did a quick diaper change, fed a warm bottle and went back to bed for a couple hours more of much needed sleep. at 7:30 am the alarm sounded. off to a quick start, i jumped out of bed and showered. Another cry from the little one threw me a little off course. while trying to entertain Q i continued to get ready. change a poopy diaper. get dressed. get her dressed. make breakfast. make Q's food for the day. make Q's bottles. feed the dogs. water the dogs. put food from the freezer to fridge for dinner. make a grocery list for brady. out the door. thanks goodness for a little prep the night before, my lunch was already made which shaved a few minutes off my time. i picked up the pace, dropped off Q at daycare and continued on to work.

the terrain changed at this point as i went from mom to loan officer, vault teller and member service representative. the next 9 hours went as follows: 2 hours of teller transactions. order cash. answer phone calls. answer questions. fix cash machine. rearrange scheduling issues. process 3 loans. open an account. 15 min lunch break. member service transactions. file atm deposits. 3 more hours of teller transactions. balance cash drawer. balance vault. close branch.

about 6:15 pm i returned to similar terrain i started this marathon with as i headed back toward home. i reached home around 6:20. cuddled and giggled with Q. got Q's dinner ready. changed my clothes and again picked up the pace as i headed to the gym for a workout. my good friend megan joined me at this point which made this leg a bit more enjoyable.

at 7:30 pm things slowed down a bit as i cooled down and headed back home for the final stretch. i made dinner. ate dinner. cleaned up dinner. did laundry. folded laundry. fed Q snacks. washed dishes. played with Q. bathed Q. put Q to bed. made lunch for the next day. changed the bed sheets and settled down Q again after she discovered some toys in her crib. i could see the finish line as i layed in bed about 10:30 pm and watched a much anticipated show on the DVR. i crossed the finish line about 11 pm as i fell asleep.

what a great race! i have done quite a few of these marathons and i think i will do another tomorrow.

month 6

quincy-

month 6 has been a very busy and challenging month. this month has been full of sickness and you have successfully gotten over your 3rd ear infection. you have been a little monster this month and i have to honestly say that i have not enjoyed you as much as i would like to. you were the sickest you have ever been. you were so congested and had a horrible cough, you were miserable. i actually took you to the dr because of the cough and then discovered the ear infection. brady and i were also really sick this month and so i had to take care of you and brady before i could take care of myself. sometimes its hard being the mom. none of us got much sleep for those couple weeks but we made it. im looking forward to spring and hope we leave all the sickness behind. you are a completely different baby when you are sick and i am enjoying you again now that you have returned to yourself.

i know i say this every month but you have grown up so much this past couple weeks! in the midst of all the sickness you sprouted 2 bottom teeth! you are getting so active and are contantly moving your arms and legs like crazy. you roll all over the room until you get to where you want to be but you havent started to crawl yet. the babysitter said unless you are in the middle of all the kids you are so mad. you get so frustrated that you cant run and play like they do. you want to be all grown up. you are very loud and talk ALOT. you dont have a soft girly voice but its loud and raspy so its getting hard to take you places where you need to be quiet. you want to be a part of everything. i think you are going to keep us on our toes!
this month you spent alot of time in the car. you, brady and i went to st george to relax. while down there we went to logandale and visited stahelis and went to the park. you loved the swing and were laughing and squealing the whole time you were in there. we also took you swimming for your first time and you loved it! but more than the pool i think you loved that your voice echoed in the building. you kept squaking and then laughing. it was cute.
the week after st george you and i went to idaho with grandma annie to visit grandpa and grandma risenmay. again you were wonderful in the car and slept both ways. they loved getting to see you and it was alot of fun for me to spend time with my mom visiting. while we were there i fed you baby food for your first time. i decided to make all your food and bought a baby food maker that blends it really easy. we have had alot of fun trying new things and so far you have had sweet potatos, peas, prunes, apples, bananas and peaches. you love the fruit best but will eat anything. you also eat rice cereal which you seem to really like. this month we have been making the transition to bottles only. i have mixed feelings as i have slowly stopped nursing you. i am excited to move on and not be tied down to nursing but i am also really sad to not have that time with you. in all the commotion it was a time i got to sit and cuddle with you. its a time we will never share again and im having a hard time letting it go.
quincy, you are my world. even though this month has been the hardest so far i cannot even express how much i love you. you are my little buddy, my extra set of hands, my shadow. you want to be wherever i am doing whatever i am doing. my love for you grows with every new experience we have and i love you more than i ever thought i could.

love you lots.

month 5

quincy-

month 5 has come and gone so fast we are already to month 6. i have really enjoyed you this month as you have seemed to grow up so much! you have outgrown almost all your 0-3 month clothes and are now on to 3-6. it has been fun to bring out a whole new wardrobe. at your last appointment you were 13lbs 14 oz and growing like crazy! you are all over the place now, rolling like a little ball. we can no longer set you down and keep you in one place.
you conquered your 2nd ear infection this month and i hope you take a break before your next one. they are not fun for either of us. you have officially set your bed time for 9:30 and are pretty diligent in falling to sleep pretty close to that time every night. you have also started taking longer naps during the day which is awesome! you have attached yourself to this soft little blanket and fall to sleep so much better when you have it. its pretty cute.you started going to a new babysitter this month which we all enjoy very much. she is a beautician and always has your nails painted. im sure once your hair is long enough, she will have that done too. you are the only baby among a bunch of toddlers who adore you! when i drop you off they always squeal and come running! after the first day the babysitter said you are a very active baby and your arms and legs never stop moving. she said the other day you were laughing uncontrollably. makes me feel better about leaving you knowing that you are enjoying yourself.
you have become very busy and very aware of your surroundings. feeding you has become a bit more difficult if the tv is on or if your dad is doing anything. you want to watch and be a part of anything that is going on. you are everything we could ever want and need and continue to be the light of our lives!
love you lots.
