month 16

quincy-

you are such a little girl now! you have grown up so much over the last few months. i dont even feel like you are a baby anymore but a full grown kid. i am really really enjoying you and i think besides being a tiny newborn this stage is my favorite. you talk SO MUCH! at your 15 month appointment the dr asked if you were saying 3-6 words and i just laughed. you can say almost anything. you ask for juice, you say excuse you when someone burps, you say please and thank you and here you go when you hand me something. when we ask you what santa says you say ho ho ho and when we say merry you say christmas. you count to 3 and if someone says ready you say set, go! its so cute and we are having so much fun getting you to say new things.

you are still a wonderful sleeper but not a great eater anymore. we put you to bed about 8 and you dont make a peep until around 8 the next morning. its so nice not to have to get up in the night anymore. and when you go down for naps i just lay you in your crib and you go to sleep. i am still so thankful for that. but you havent been eating very well lately. you are starting to learn the things you like and the things you dont like and when i give you something you dont like you turn up your nose, shake your head and hand it back to me. sometimes if i leave you in your seat long enough you will try it by mistake and realize you really do like it. you havent been eating much of anything lately and i worry that you are going to starve, but i guess if your hungry enough you will eat.
at your 15 month appointment you finally hit your 20 lb mark, weighing in at a wopping 20 lbs 14 oz! you have 4 teeth on top and 4 on bottom and a few molars that have come in. you are still getting molars and i will be honest, you havent been very pleasant while they are coming through. im sure they hurt so i try to be patient with you. i havent changed a poopy diaper in 2 months because you have decided you want to poop on the toilet. its nice. you have your own seat and when i see you grunting we put you on the pot and get the job done.
you love pretty things. you call them pretties. not sure where you got this love because im not very girly but you love things in your hair and you love bracelets and necklaces. you love your fingers and toes painted. you are quite the girl. more than anything you love love love babies. you carry a baby almost everywhere you go and wrap them in blankies and lay them down to sleep. when you see a real baby at church or at the store you squeal with joy and want to look at them and touch them and share your things with them. you will be a good big sister. but you dont like older kids at all. anytime they come near you you scream or try to hit them. you are very independant and dont want help with anything. quincy, you are the best. i know i gloat every time i write one of these posts but you really are wonderful. you dont sit still very long but as long as we are somewhere you can run and play you are so fun. you love to wrestle with your dad and sneak up on him and scare him. you love your back rubbed and your hair played with just like your dad. you have even started calling for him when you wake up in the morning. you truly are a little draper. you have us both wrapped around that painted little finger and we love you more than we ever thought possible.

love you lots.

month 11 & 12

quincy-

you are now one year old and i keep meaning to post your 11 month update but i cant remember what has happened in month 11 and what has happened in month 12 so im going to combine the two months.

i hate to start this post this way, but in the last 2 months you have had 2 more ear infections! you also had an eye infection in both eyes and your eyes were so swollen and drippy. you have just been miserable and so we saw the ear nose throat doctor and he recommended you for tubes. on august 16th, we took you up to primary childrens hospital and got your tubes put in. the surgery only took 10 min but we had to wait for 2 hours to get in. luckily primary childrens has awesome waiting rooms with lots of toys, but you were also fasting so you got pretty cranky toward the end. you did great in surgery and im hoping this winter will be ear infection free!
just after i did the 10 month post you started walking! you took a few steps then kind of went back to crawling for a while cause it was quicker but this last couple weeks you have been walking full time and you are getting fast! you are learning that you have boundaries and when you are doing something you know you shouldnt be doing you run! you are developing quite an attitude and have started throwing fits. you have even hit me a few times. you are most definitely not a baby anymore, but a full blown toddler. you love your toe nails painted and baretts in your hair and sit and admire yourself in the mirror after we comb and do your hair. when i brush my teeth you do yours. you think your so big.
you are full of energy and never sit still. when we are in the store you touch everything as we pass by. at church you touch everyones legs and skirts. its kind of embarassing. you are interested in everything and jabber constantly. you say mama, dadoo, doggie, woof woof, hot, uh oh and a lot of other words i cant decipher yet. you are still a great eater and are now eating pretty much whatever we eat. you will eat anything we put on your tray and the only thing i have found that you dont like is hamburger. thats ok though, i dont really like it either. some of your favorite foods are avacados, beans (green, black, kidney, you love them all), fruit and of course macaroni and cheese and anything with cheese. when you eat you rub the back of your head and leave crusties in your hair. we usually have to wash your hair after you eat. you still sleep great too going to bed around 9 and waking up around 8. rarley do you make a peep through the night, something i have been very grateful for. i dont function well without sleep.
at one year old you are 18lbs 1.5 oz and 29.25 in tall. you are in the 8th percentile for weight and 58th for height. you have 4 teeth, 2 on top and 2 on bottom. you have 2 more on top and 2 more on bottom about to break through and some molars coming also. your just a little thing and are still wearing 9 month clothes and a size 2 diaper. you are barely starting to wear a size 3 shoe which is so tiny! your feet look too little to be walking. you love water and are getting pretty comfortable around the dogs. you look at them out the window daily but lately we have been playing outside around them and even though they knock you down you get up yelling and pointing at them. you are pretty brave. one day they will listen to you. for your first birthday we had a party in wallsburg with both sides of our family. we had a bbq, rode horses and opened presents. you got lots of new toys but your favorite thing is still your "softie", your little square blanket you drag everywhere. you really like books and i have caught you a few times in your closet looking at them. you had a really cute castle cake that i had a lot of fun making and then i gave you a little rainbow chip cake of your own. you didnt like the frosting on your hands at first but then destroyed the cake turning it into a pile of crumbs. i think you had a great birthday. i know i had a good day. quincy you are still the joy of our lives. we have had you in our family for a whole year now and even though life is much more hectic with you around i wouldnt change it. you are constantly keeping us laughing and we love to watch you learn and discover new things. you already have your dad wrapped around your finger and i know he would do anything for you. you are a good little girl and we feel so blessed to have you. love you lots.

bryce, zions & 4th

there are so many places in utah that i havent seen that i have been wanting to go to and about a month ago we went to 2 of them! we went to bryce canyon and zions with our friends jake and megan mcphie. we stayed at rubys inn and we loved it! we will most definitely stay there again next time. we hiked all day down in and around bryce one day then hiked the next day in zions. we only had time for one hike in zions but i would love to go back and see more.brady was amazing and carried quincy on his back all weekend long. i only had her for about a half hour and that was plenty long! i could barely carry my own body up some of those switch backs toward the end! brady never complained once and quincy loved it! she loves being outside and seeing new things. it was a great weekend and we cant wait to go back. the 4th of july is my FAVORITE holiday! i grew up going to the balloon launch and parade in provo and then going to the craft booths downtown. its a tradition i LOVE LOVE LOVE and look forward to every year. brady really really doesnt like parades so i took Q with me and she really seemed to enojoy it. she is already such a people watcher. we went down sunday night and slept at my mom and dads house so that we could get up bright and early. we went to the balloons, parade and booths then came back to my parents house for a bbq. brady met up with us there for lunch then we came back to heber to have a bbq with the draper family. that night we went to duff and amys and did lots of fireworks in the rain. quincy just seemed to soak up the whole day. she was up at 6 and didnt get to bed until about 11:30. im pretty sure she is going to LOVE the 4th of july too!

month 10

quincy-

this month has been a big one for you. you have learned to clap and point at things. when we sing pat a cake or if your happy and you know it, you clap. you LOVE music too. any time you hear music you will bounce your belly. you even do it in church. your 2 top teeth also came through this month! you werent as monsterous as everyone says babies are when they teeth. you were a bit fussier than normal, but not too bad. i havent seen much of your top teeth, you dont like to show them, but you love your bottom teeth and are always showing them off. you also love your tongue and have it out constantly. you curl it and flip it and love to play with it. you also love to empty things. anything that has something inside of it, you empty. laundry baskets, cupboards, bags and your favorite, the diaper basket. you have also learned where your toy basket is in the living room and love to empty it and spread the toys all over the room. you take things out one at a time and throw them over your shoulder. one day ill teach you to put things back in the baskets.
you have learned how to make some funny noises and are always talking. you can say mama and dada and no no no no no and i swear i have heard you say dog a few times. and you are starting to understand the words too because when we ask where the dogs are look right at them. you also make a fake cough noise alot. it is really loud and abnoxious but you do it a lot. you are getting a little harder to take certain places because you are so noisy and you dont want to sit still. you are a good girl you are just very energetic and adventurous. you like to pull yourself up on everything and walk around. i think you will be walking very soon. sometimes you stand without holding on to anything than fall once you realize you are doing it. Q, you are growing up so fast! you are getting really fun and interactive and we are looking forward to showing and experiencing new things with you this summer. there is a big world ahead of you and we are excited to go through it with you.

love you lots.

month 9

quincy-

this month you got another nasty ear infection! you havent been eating well and have been really cranky but i thought maybe you were just teething. after 3 days of fevers up to 103.7 i took you to the dr and sure enough that left ear was infected again. we got you on some more medication and you are so much happier. i think you are really starting to like the taste of amoxicillin. i hope that your tiny ears will grow and that you wont keep having problems with this. its miserable for you. you are growing so big but are still a little tike. you are now in 6 month clothes and weigh 16 pounds. at your 9 month well child check up the dr said everything looked perfect. i still thank the lord for a happy healthy baby. we are blessed.
this month you learned how to crawl! it is nice that you can now move around because you always want to be where i am. but we now have to keep a lot better eye on you because you are all over the place and you are fast! and it seems like when you are going somewhere you shouldnt you go faster! it wont be long until you are walking and running around.
you continue to be your happy pleasant little self. you have really learned to love bath time and will play in there as long as i will let you. when i lay you down to wash your hair you kick your legs furiously splashing water everywhere! you kick as hard as you can and splash water in your own face and you love it! you laugh and laugh and kick and kick. then you cry when i get you out. hopefully youll love swimming pools just as much.Q, you seem to be soaking up every minute of your life. you are so happy and content and enjoy all the new things that we drag you in to. its been a joy to include you in our everyday lives and adjusting our lives to fit yours. i dont know how we lived without you. you make our family complete.

love you lots.
